I forgot my controller password. How do I reset it?
Rain Bird WiFi Controller passwords are not kept anywhere except locally in the controller for the best level of security, so they are not recoverable when lost. In order to reset the password the controller must be set up again. This requires that any custom zone or program names and images are reset as well. The zone start times, durations, and watering days can be kept however.
Follow these steps to reset your controller password (you must be physically at the location of the controller):
- Delete the controller card from the Rain Bird App by pressing on the trash can button.
- Press the button on the LNK WiFi Module in the controller to activate AP Hotspot mode. The light should be blinking green and red.
- From your mobile device, go to WiFi settings and connect to the Rain Bird network “RAINBIRDXXXXXX”. Wait for your device to establish a WiFi connection with the LNK WiFi Module.
- From the Rain Bird app, press the Add controller button and follow the controller setup instructions. During the setup process there will be an opportunity to enter a new controller password.
It is highly recommended that controller passwords are stored somewhere safe so they are not forgotten.
Note: When setting up the controller again it may still have the area code and WiFi network information that was previously entered.
